Caring for others is important to members of St Mark.


Holiday Food Drive

St. Mark's Thansgiving and Christmas Food Drive will begin on November 1, 2009 and contues through January, 2010. We encourage our children (Preschool and Sunday School) and each member to check your pantry and bring food items to the church placing them in the little red wagon in the Narthex. Brazort Cares, a community supoort agnency of which St. Mark Lutheran Church is a founding member, serves more poeple from Thanksgiving to Christmas and into the New Year more than any other time if the year. All donated goods and/or funds will go to Brazosport Cares to serve the Brazoport community.

Active ministries at St Mark:

 Breavement Ministry  A meal is offered/provided to members following the death of immediate family who are not members of St Mark; specifically, spouse, child, father, mother, sister or brother allowing us to reach out to members in their time of grief. Please notify Pastor or the Church Office when a death occurs.   Donna Hicks, 979-297-8755

 Blood Drive Ministry  Members give the “Gift of Life” regularly at scheduled blood drives at our site.

 Brazosport Cares Food Pantry  Members contribute food and personal hygiene items to Brazosport Cares Food Pantry which serves needy clients in the Brazosport area. Items are collected each Sunday and a special food drive is conducted in November and December. Contact: Joe Trussell at 979-297-7053

 Card Ministry  Members show their concern for others by sending cards to those who are ill, needing encouragement, comfort, thanks or congratulations. Contact: Joanne Berry, 979-265-6505

 Christmas Angel Tree  Out of love for Christ, the greatest gift of all,gifts from members of the congregation are collected and distributed to needy individuals agencies in the community.   Contact: Maria Jasper, 279-297-3307

 Handy Man Ministry  At various times within congregational life, members may need household repairs or have other needs around their homes. The Handy Man Ministry is available to help members needing minor repairs. Contact: Ric Mergenhagen, 979-297-9469

 Meal Ministry  During times of ill health, crisis or other difficulties, meals are taken to members to assist during their time of need. Contact: Your Lay Minister or Margaret Townsend, 979-373-6070

 Pregnancy Help Center Ministry  The Pregnancy Help Center is located in Lake Jackson and assists pregnant women so they will not choose abortion. St Mark donates basic necessities for newborns and infants such as clothing and bedding.   Contact: Stacie Biar, 979-297-0239

 Plantation Hymn Sing  Members of St Mark visit Plantation Health Care Center each month to visit with residents of the center and sing God’s praises. Contact: C W Matteck, 979-297-2388

 Tape Ministry  Each Sunday an audiotape of the Worship Service is made, copied and delivered to home bound members so they continue to hear God’s word and feel a part of St Mark. Contact: Dorothea Dipple, 979-297-6180
